In a recent media talk, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief selector Wahab Riaz provided an optimistic update on fast bowler Naseem Shah’s injury rehabilitation. Naseem, who was recently traded from Quetta Gladiators to Islamabad United, faced concerns about his participation in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 due to his ongoing rehabilitation.

Wahab Riaz, addressing the media, assured that Naseem Shah is making significant progress in his rehabilitation and is expected to be fully fit before the commencement of PSL. “Naseem Shah will be completely fit till PSL,” Riaz confirmed during the media interaction. He shared insights into his meeting with Naseem, highlighting the positive developments in the young pacer’s recovery journey.

The PCB, in a press release on Wednesday, officially announced that Shah has entered the final stage of his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore. The release detailed Naseem’s journey, mentioning his injury during the Asia Cup in September and subsequent surgery in the United Kingdom. The PCB covered his medical costs and facilitated two months of rehabilitation and training in the UK under expert medical staff.

Currently, Shah’s rehabilitation is ongoing at NCA, Lahore, under the guidance of a strength and conditioning coach, a physiotherapist, and a doctor. The press release outlined the current activities in his rehabilitation program, which includes light gym exercises and partial bowling practice. It was also mentioned that Naseem is set to begin batting practice the following day.

With these positive updates, cricket enthusiasts and PSL fans can look forward to witnessing Shah’s return to the field, fully fit and ready to showcase his bowling prowess in the upcoming PSL 2024.
