Amazing! Nida Dar did what Shahid Afridi could not

Nida Dar has become the first Pakistani cricket player bagging 100 T20I wickets – male or female. She targetted Deandra Dottin, seized by Diana Baig during the Pakistan vs West Indies’ first T20I match.

The 34-year old picked one more wicket – this time of Stafanie Taylor, to reach the tally of 101 T20I wickets. Consequently, Nida now has the most T20I wickets by any Pakistan. This also makes her the fifth woman to do so. Notably, only Anisa Mohammed, Ellyse Perry, Shabnim Ismail, and Anya Shrubsole have grabbed more wickets than Dar in T20Is.

Among the top five Pakistanis with the most T20I wickets, the renowned Shahid Afridi is the second-highest wicket taker. With striking at 97, Afridi’s chapter had already been closed years ago in the format. This makes Nida lead the chart adjoining Sana Mir, Umar Gul, and Saeed Ajmal after Afridi owning 89, 85, and 85 wickets, respectively. Hence, No Pakistani player is nearby Nida to obtain the fate and the lady can relish the feat for countless years from now on.

Her career’s best stat came in 2018 whilst playing Asia Cup at Kuala Lampur against Malaysia. She yielded 5 for 21 then. Notably, Mir and Sadia Yousuf are the second and third-highest T20I women wicket-takers sequentially after Nida Dar.

The PCB is delighted to oversee her remarkable achievement. Calling her an inspiration for the upcoming lady chaps, the CEO of the board added,

Over the last decade, Nida has prospered into an integral part of the national women’s team and has become an inspiration for the next generation of women cricketers. It is a great moment not only for her but the whole nation as she is also the first Asian woman bowler to record this landmark.
Nida is an icon and inspiration to millions of young girls who are passionate about cricket and follow the game. In a day and age when women’s cricket is flourishing and its fan base is increasing day-by-day, role models like her would do well in taking the women’s game to the corners of the earth.

However, despite her accomplishment unearthing 2 for 15 and restricting West Indies women at 136 for 6, Pakistan women succumbed with the batters failing to chase the target.
