No Babar Azam for ICC Player of the tournament

No Babar Azam for ICC Player of the tournament

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has dragged itself under the hot waters for not naming Babar Azam as the ICC Player of the tournament, T20 World Cup 2021.

Notably, Pakistan’s batting delight has been the top run-scorer this event, but ICC prioritized to name Australia’s David Warner, who is the second-most run-getter after Azam.

The synopsis is gathering immense criticism from the fans, cricket greats, and experts as they call it hypocrisy.

Babar Azam, the highest run-scorer of T20 World Cup, not named ICC Player of the Tournament:

It is pertinent to mention that Warner, who has ended on the trophy-winning side, has gathered 289 runs at an average of 48.16. On the other hand, the Pakistani skipper has scored 303 runs at an average of 60.60.

Social media is flooded with the ‘unfair’ decision as people raise their voices for Azam. They say he is the deserving candidate than Warner whilst lashing out at ICC for the anti-Pakistani conclusion.

However, as the council named the team of the tournament, Azam was declared skipper for the playing XI with no Indian inside. This came in the enlightenment of the fact that Babar’s Pakistan is the only unbeaten side of the T20 World Cup, winning five out of five Super 12 games.

Their loss to Australia in the semifinal was not expected but after it happened, Australia were too probable to clutch their maiden ICC T20 WC title on having the guts to beat unbeaten Pakistan.
