Pak vs Afg: Why Umar Gul is satisfied with team despite humiliating loss?

Pak vs Afg: Pakistan's bowling coach umar gul finds positives despite loss to Afghanistan in first T20I

Pak vs Afg: Afghanistan’s first-ever T20I victory over Pakistan has left the Men in Green reeling, but bowling coach Umar Gul believes there were positives to take from the match. Despite their young batting line collapsing and only managing to score 92-9 in 20 overs, Pakistan’s bowlers fought hard and took quick wickets to create pressure on Afghanistan.

While they ultimately couldn’t defend such a low total, Gul was satisfied with his team’s bowling performance, saying they “bowled on good line and lengths as per the plan given to them.” Ihsanullah bagged two wickets while Imad Wasim and Naseem Shah shared a wicket apiece.

For Gul, the loss was a learning opportunity for Pakistan’s younger players. “It was the first match for youngsters,” he said. “They definitely learnt from it. Conditions here were different from Pakistan where these players performed in PSL 8. I hope they will learn from their mistakes and come back strong in the next games.”

What happened during Pak vs Afg 1st T20I?

Afghanistan’s six-wicket victory was sealed in just 17.5 overs, with veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi scoring an unbeaten run-a-ball 38 to finish the match with a six. Najibullah Zadran remained not out on 17 runs in 23 balls. The pair added 53 unbeaten runs in 49 balls for the fifth wicket to get their side over the line.

Pakistan’s young side collapsed in the face of Afghanistan’s bowling attack, with the team fielding four debutants and resting many senior players for the series. This was Afghanistan’s first win over Pakistan in international cricket, marking a historic moment for the country’s cricket team.

Despite the loss, Pakistan will be looking to come back strong in the remaining two matches of the series. Gul suggested that the team could include an additional spinner in the lineup for the remaining matches due to the slow pitch. “Looking at the pitch, I think you can play one additional spinner since the surface won’t offer assistance to the pacers unless you are express like Ihsanullah,” he said.

The pressure is on Pakistan now to bounce back and secure a series victory. The team will need to make necessary adjustments and learn from their mistakes if they hope to come out on top against an Afghanistan side full of confidence after their historic win.
