Pak vs Eng 2nd T20I: List of records for Pakistan

The second match of the ongoing Pakistan vs England seven-match T20I series took place on September 22nd, and Pakistan’s majestic triumph put multiple breathtaking records on the board. With the help of Babar Azam’s century and Mohammad Rizwan’s perfect knock, the men in green chased the target of 200 runs with three spared balls.

England, who won the toss and elected to bat, compiled 199 runs with the assistance of Moeen Ali’s 53, Ben Duckett’s 43, and Harry Brook’s 31. The Pakistani bowlers could only manage five wickets, but the batters made sure to compensate. Azam, who has been out of form throughout the Asia Cup 2022, failing to surpass even 15 runs, silenced the critics with a tremendous hundred.

Smashing a century, he has become the only Pakistani with two T20I centuries. Also, Azam now has the most number of centuries as a Pakistani captain, surpassing the prior record of Inzamam ul Haq. The former cricketer could amass nine centuries in 131 innings as the captain, whereas Babar now has ten hundreds in 84 innings.

Since Pakistan chased the target in Pak vs Eng 2nd T20I without a loss of any wicket, the 203-run stand between Babar and Rizwan became the highest-ever partnership in T20Is for Pakistan. It was also the 5th 150+ partnership between Azam and Rizwan in the shortest format of the game. No other pair has done it more than twice.

The top five partnerships for Pakistan in T20Is belong to the opening duo, Rizwan and Babar. They registered their 7th centurion stand during Pak vs Eng 2nd T20I. Moreover, Babar also became the second fastest to 8000 T20 runs in 218 innings.
