Pak vs Eng: Babar Azam once again fails to inspire

Pakistan‘s Babar Azam, better known as the ‘only consistent batsman of the Pakistani batting line-up,’ seems to be heading towards the road of downfall. The issue has bloomed with his batting since he had taken over the captaincy from Sarfaraz Ahmed last year.

It was already considered that now the captain, Babar, slowly responds in the T20I cricket that is inappropriate for the format. According to them, people find the twenty-twenty format as a forum to hit a lot of boundaries in each over – this is what generates a top-notched batter in t20Is, according to them. Now, the flaws emerge in the ODI too.

However, Babar – the classical, follows his own rituals that distinct him from others. Babar is rarely seen going for high shots, but flat boundaries are on and off his runs’ part. Going too slow in the limited over cricket is not so often considered a sign of good batting by many.

As the Pakistan tour of England commences, Pak vs Eng 1st ODI is underway during the time of writing. We have witnessed a massive clash of Pakistan batting line-up falling below 200, that too versus the English newbies as seven big names were pulled out of the squad.

Pak vs Eng 1st ODI: How the men in green’s top order collapsed?

The ‘Azam’ of Pakistan followed his first duck in ODIs as a captain and third in the One-Day International. Notably, the men in green are coming from a defeat against England in a T20I series last year. Hence, it is a matter of dignity to win the series this time.

It was speculated that the Pakistani batters might rock against the newbies’ bowlers induced in the England squad. Still, the speculations turned out to be faulty as Pakistan lost three early wickets.

Babar, the number one ODI batsman, got a two-ball duck and the trends on Twitter still commences to roast him. Not only him but the whole top-order has been badly demolished, allowing the hosts’ bowler to diminish the visitors under 200.

An unwanted record by Pakistan:

This is the first time when Pakistani batters are bowled all out under 200 at Cardiff, registering the 4th lowest ODI total at the venue by any team.

Not only from today’s portrays, but the Pakistani batters often are known to struggle with the top-order woes. Earlier, they had issues in middle-order, but after they had solved them, the developing top-order issues were far scarier for the team.

No batter other than Fakhar, Zaman was inspired as all of them, including the debutant, and on his comeback, Sohaib Maqsood failed either. Now, they will be looking to portray different strategies versus England’s unexpected squad that turned out to be hauling for the visitors.
