Pak vs WI ODI series postpone to early July

Pak vs WI: After the two boards, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Cricket West Indies (CWI) met on Thursday to decide the ongoing West Indies tour of Pakistan 2021, the three-match ODI series has been cut off as a mutual decision.

The ODIs were set to take place on 18th, 20th, and 22nd December and now have been postponed to early July.

The developments came in the enlightenment of multiple COVID-19 positive cases from the visitors’ camp. At first, CWI named four members of the crew including three players, Sheldon Cottrell, Roston Chase, and Kyle Mayers, and a non-coaching staff. The playing trio, following the mandatory isolation period, was pulled out of the three-match T20I series.

As the blow was not enough for the visitors, more COVID-19 positive cases evolving from their end include the names of  Shai Hope, Akeal Hosein, Justin Greaves, Assistant Coach Roddy Estwick, and Team Physician Dr. Akshai Mansingh. These cases were confirmed after PCB conducted the last round of testing.

It is pertinent to mention that Hope was named skipper of the 50-over cricket crew for the Pakistan tour following Kieron Pollard’s unavailability. Also, Nicholas Pooran is taking charge of the uninterrupted ongoing T20I series.

Pakistan lead by 2-0 whereas, the final encounter is underway at the time of writing. The third T20I’s fate was also hanging around a rope but it progressed as the fresh rounds of tests came negative.

Those, who have turned out COVID-19 positive, will complete their isolation period in Karachi before leaving for West Indies.
