Pak vs Zim: Zimbabwe suffer a big blow

Zimbabwe Cricket suffers a huge blow in the midst of the Pak vs Zim T20I series as the in-form mid-order batsman, Craig Ervine has been pulled out of the squad.

Ervine suffered an injury during the Pak vs Zim 1st T20I in his right calf’s muscle. The scans of the muscle strain are underway and the batter will not be featuring his team at least for the second match.

However, it is not clear if he will be available onwards. Zimbabwe Cricket has revealed the replacement as Tarisai Musakanda, a right-handed batsman, will be joining the team for the next game.

Musakanda, who has donned Zimbabwe’s jersey in only 3 Tests and 9 ODIs, will barely be beneficial over Ervine. The replacement has 69 Tests and 168 T20I runs. On the other hand, Ervine has 1208 and 536 Tests, T20I runs sequentially.

The purpose of not mentioning ODI stats is that the two teams are just to feature in a T20I and a Test series. Upon comparison, it is clear that Ervine has got an edged over Musakanda as he was also the top scorer from Zimbabwe’s end in the Pak vs Zim 1st T20I.

With the team contribution put in to chase, Ervine slammed 34 runs off 23 balls. It is also to be noted that Brendon Taylor, who was eliminated from the first T20I amidst the gastrointestinal infection, has rejoined the squad after recovery.

The second match is to take place on 23rd April at Harare Sports Club. After coiling up a three-match t20I series, the two teams will begin the journey for two test matches by 29th April.
