Pakistan fail to chase 130 as Zimbabwe’s bowling shine

Second consecutive loss for Pakistan as Zimbabwe thumb up

Zimbabwe’s triumph by one run against Pakistan is creating havoc in the cricket fraternity as the men in green failed to chase an underdog target of 131 runs from 120 balls.

On a bowl-supportive pitch, Pakistani bowlers showcased their talent by being propelled to chase. Wasim Jnr’s heroics with a four-wicket haul, followed by a three-wicket haul from Shadab Khan and 12 runs for one wicket for Haris Rauf, contributed to restricting Zimbabwe to 130 on the loss of eight wickets.

However, it became challenging on the Perth pitch as Zimbabwe bowlers equally showed masterclass in bowling. Especially Sikandar Raza, who managed three crucial wickets alongside a match-winning run-out to Shaheen Shah Afridi in the end, also got him the Match of the Man award.

Things became difficult after Mohammad Nawaz’s wicket as he became Brad Evan’s prey when three were needed from two. The nailbiting situation when three were needed from a single ball was anticipated to see the ball flying high. The on-pitch batters tried to run for two, but Shaheen Shah Afridi instead was run out as Sikandar was fast in his duty.

It ended all in emotional cheers for Craig Ervine’s men as they managed to win versus a stellar team like Pakistan, paving their way ahead in the T20 World Cup 2022 journey. Whereas, the things have gone wrong for Babar Azam and co on losing the second closest game after losing against India in the opening encounter of their Super 12 campaign.
