PCB announces Pakistan T20 World Cup squad

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named a fifteen-player Pakistan squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 and many big players have been dropped out.

The anticipated names, such as Shoaib Malik, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Amir, and Sarfaraz Ahmed’s exclusion has fume out the Pakistani cricket devotees.

Amir aside, who had inferior relations with the PCB, might have a reason for not being considered but Sarfaraz, the second-choice wicket-keeping batsman, to be added alongside Mohammad Rizwan, has been replaced by inexperienced Azam Khan.

Also, Shoaib Malik, who could have added a T20I experience of over 42 years alongside Mohammad Hafeez, has been dropped. Notably, he already has been abstaining from the international field for a quite while from days of yore.

However, Imad Wasim, the least expected but the most anticipated all-rounder, has finally made it to the Pakistan T20 World Cup squad despite missing on the field for a long span.

To tackle middle-order obstacles, the PCB has named Khushdil Shah and Asif Ali after a sound domestic performance. However, the experienced pacer, Wahab Riaz has not been considered.

Naming fifteen players composing of five batsmen, two wicket-keeping batsmen, four pacemen, and four all-rounders, the board has named Fakhar Zaman, Usman Qadir, and Shahnawaz Dahani as the reserves.

However, Faheem Ashraf has been replaced by Wasim Jnr, who had a wonderful KPL season, and has been inspiring the lookouts in domestic arena as well.

Also, From the 19 players who were part of the Pakistan squad for the T20I series in England and the West Indies, Arshad Iqbal and, Sharjeel Khan have been left out. 

Notably, the men in green will kick-start their T20 World Cup 2021 campaign versus the arch-rivals, India, on 24th October. Here is the complete squad:
