Pat Cummins hit back at Justin Langer’s comments

Pat Cummins hit back as Justin Langer's comments

Australian Test captain Pat Cummins has responded back to former coach Justin Langer’s ‘coward’ comments. Notably, the ex-coach claimed that the Australian Cricket Team is full of cowards, and Pat, by no means, has entertained the statements. While talking to a group of reporters, Australia’s red-ball captain clarified that there have never been cowards in the Kangaroos squad.

Langer, while talking about his wounds coming as a consequence of his resignation from Cricket Australia (CA), somehow took his frustration out. While talking in an interview with BackChat Podcast last week, Langer, addressing his aggressive coaching style, termed anonymous players as cowards.

Cummins, whilst backfiring at the former coach, said,

“There’s no cowards in an Australian cricket team, not ever,”

“I think it’s disappointing sometimes the focus gets drawn to off-field issues, but it hasn’t really affected our team. I think there’s no ill will to what he was trying to do, and he clarified (his comments) afterwards.

“I think he had a think about it and clarified it, so thank him for that. But we’re really proud of the last 12 months, how we’ve fronted up, the way we’ve played, the way we’ve conducted ourselves. Players can certainly hold their heads high.”

Notably, Cummins and Langer have worked only three months together. While Cummins was named Test skipper in November 2021, Langer resigned in February next year. The bowler was also named Australia’s ODI skipper after Aaron Finch decided to step down in October 2022.
