Pat Cummins says IPL 2021 should not be called off due to COVID

The statements by the Australian bowler, Pat Cummins, are taking all over the internet after he has spoken in favor of the Indian Premier League (IPL) continuation despite the life-threatening COVID conditions in India.

He says that the IPL 2021 is working as a source of entertainment at one end where people are depressed about losing their loved ones on and off.

Recently, India has become the second-ranked country with the most COVID cases. The health circumstances are far more than ‘poor’ as 22nd April has reported over 2,500,00 deaths.

The month of April has recorded more than a million deaths in India and a large group of people being tested positive daily. The situation is worsened to an extent that the country has run out of oxygen to treat the patients.

Consequently, many are demanding to call off IPL 2021. People believe that the social media portals of the cricketers with millions of followers should sensibly be used to create awareness, stand with the people of India in their sorrow, and call off IPL immediately.

IPL, which is the world’s cash richest league, could lose billions once postponed. Hence, the BCCI plays every card not to give up and go as per schedule.

Pat Cummins is also of the view that the league should be played at one corner along with a kind gesture of donating to “PM cares fund”. He has raised $50,000 to which a few people think will go in vain due to the carelessness of the authorities. They believe the amount would be used by the PM himself later.
