PCB announces new playing conditions for PSL 7

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has modified the playing conditions for the Pakistan Super League set to be implemented in the seventh edition of the tournament, PSL 7.

Defining the new playing conditions, the board’s release has majorly undertaken the ifs and buts of COVID interruptions during the league.

New Playing Conditions for PSL 7

According to the new playing conditions, for a match to progress, a team must have 13 COVID negative players. In case, a team loses its player due to COVID positive results, it can seek the technical committee’s approval to replace that player with any alternative available in the reserved pool.

The new playing conditions for PSL 7 say that the playing line-up must comprise a minimum of seven and a maximum of eight local players including an emerging player. However, if a team is affected by Covid to the extent that it is impossible for it to create a playing 11 in accordance with the relevant requirements, the requirements will stand waived to the necessary extent.

Moreover, the fielding side must be in a position to bowl the first ball of the final over of the innings by the scheduled or rescheduled time for the end of the innings. If they are not in such a position, one fewer fielder will be permitted outside of the 30-yard circle for the remaining overs of the innings.

It must be noted that the TV umpire will be calling for the no-balls. As far as the final of PSL 7 is considered, there will be a reserve day and if no result is achieved on a reserved day, the side finishing on top of the points table after 30 league matches will be declared champion.

Notably, the extravaganza is set to kick-start by 27th January and will be coiled up on 27th January. Karachi Kings will lock horns with the title defenders Multan Sultans in the opening match.
