PCB assures to covering all expenses of Shaheen Shah Afridi's rehabilitation

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has assured covering all expenses of Shaheen Shah Afridi’s rehabilitation after it has been heard that the bowler himself has been managing the rehabilitation process in London. Former cricketer Shahid Khan Afridi revealed that the board is offering zero assistance to Shaheen and did not even book a ticket for him to London.

Notably, the young bowler was injured during Galle Test vs Sri Lanka in July. However, he was named in the squads for the Netherlands series and Asia Cup 2022 but was expelled from both due to the severity of his knee injury. The reports revolved that the PCB has sent him to the UK for the rehabilitation process, but according to Shaheen’s father-in-law’s claims, he has arranged a ticket for the pacer to fly for the rehabilitation and recovery.

The board approached Shaheen as soon as revelations from Shahid came and assured him of dealing with all expenses of his rehab process. On Thursday night, the board revealed an official statement regarding covering all medical expenditures of every cricketer.

“The PCB is also pleased to advise and update that Shaheen Shah Afridi is making excellent progress in his rehabilitation in London and is on track to make a full recovery in time for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Australia 2022. It goes without saying that the PCB has always been and will continue to be responsible for arranging medical care and rehabilitation of all its players requiring any treatment,”

It must be noted that it was assumed Shaheen would not be recovered till the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, but the pacer has been named in the marquee event squad. Men in green’s World Cup-bound squad will play a tri-series including Bangladesh and New Zealand in New Zealand before heading to Australia. This means Shaheen is a part of the tri-series; however, the fast bowler has been sidelined from the England series’ squad.
