PCB to make PSL as bigger as IPL

The chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ramiz Raja, while talking to the media, portrayed his motive of making the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as big as the Indian Premier League (IPL). The world’s two best T20 competitions are often compared and the fans combat defending their side of the league on behalf of several factors. However, there is no denying, IPL, being 2x in the age of PSL, has gathered more attention worldwide as a cash-rich tournament.

While talking to the media, the PCB chairman stated that the board wants to make its league equal to IPL. Undoubtedly, the PSL is now a brand gathering the interest of top-notched world-class players. Hosting the tournament within the realm has been a great success this year despite the COVID fears. Also, the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced Maharashtra’s venues to host their cash-rich league.

On the one hand, IPL is continued for more than 2 months including eight teams. Whereas, PSL is down and dusted in one month with equal delights. Players including the contracted ones by their boards, quit their national duties to participate in the Indian t20 league to participate in the cash-rich to earn some extra pounds.

Raja revealed PSL has been a success over the years. This season, the league has earned more than PKR 540 Crores. He further stated PCB does not want to use the International Cricket Council (ICC) to exert pressure on BCCI and does not want to rely on them.

“We will make PSL as big as the IPL. PSL has become the brand of Pakistan. Pakistan has benefited a lot from the PSL. Also, in the last season, each PSL franchise earn around 540 Crores,”

“We can’t use the ICC to put additional pressure on India. We must be able to stand on our own,”
