PSL 2022: Great news for Lahore Fans

PSL crowd update

It’s time for the Lahore fans to rejoice as the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has announced an increase in the percentage of crowds in the Lahore leg of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL7).

In an important meeting of NCOC, chaired by Federal Minister Asad Umer, it was decided that 100% of spectators will be allowed to witness the matches in Gaddafi Stadium from 16th February onwards. In the meantime, only 50% crowd will enter the cricket arena till 15th February. All people coming to see the games should be vaccinated and should have their certificates. Children below 12, previously barred from entering the stadiums in the Karachi leg, will be allowed entrance.

It is pertinent to mention that only 25% of fans were granted permission to spectate the matches in Karachi which meant only 8000 people could come. In late December NCOC had decided to allow 100% fans, but the decision was changed following the fifth wave of corona taking over the country in early January. But now, the positive cases have gone down significantly and the fifth wave isn’t a threat anymore, hence the verdict.

However, no ease in restrictions was mentioned for the players who will be flying to Lahore from Karachi today. They will travel in a special chartered flight carrying only two teams in a single plane. Matches in Lahore will commence from 10th February in which Multan Sultans will take over Peshawar Zalmi. According to the current standings of the points table, Multan Sultans are at number one while Karachi Kings are positioned at the bottom of the table.
