PSL 2022: Three teams announce replacements

The title defenders Multan Sultans and the two times PSL champions Islamabad United have started their Pakistan Super League (PSL 2022) campaign on a winning note and are placed first and second on the points table with 4 and 2 points respectively. While Sultans thrashed away Karachi Kings in the opener, United overpowered Zalmi on Sunday. Mohammad Rizwan and co later beat Lahore Qalandars on Saturday to bring their second consecutive triumph of the season.

Despite the fact that Sultans and United are going pretty well in PSL 2022 so far winning two out of two and one out of one matches with a heavy margin, they are in hot waters due to the unavailability of their key players leaving them with no option but to announce partial replacements.

However, these two are not the only contestants to look for the replacement as the Gladiators are put on the same board. Sarfaraz Ahmed and co and men in pink look for the temporary replacements but Sultans will need to fix three spots in the short course.

Gladiators earlier missed on Shahid Afridi in the initial games picking Hassan Khan as the replacement. According to recent developments, the management of Quetta has stated Afridi has recovered from Coronavirus and will arrive at the team hotel on Tuesday. It must be noted that he will be undergoing a rapid antigen test (RAT) at the hotel. The veteran all-rounder is not back yet but will join the team as soon as he tests COVID negative with Hassan returning back to the bio-secure bubble.

Moreover, United added Waqas Maqsood to the crew in place of Reece Topley who sidelined himself from PSL 2022 due to national commitments. Sultans missed out on the West Indies trio Roman Powell, Odean Smith, and Dominic Drakes as they were named in the team’s limited-overs squad versus India. Rizwan’s side has requested the replacements instantly which are yet to be named.

Sultans are currently encountering the Gladiators, whereas, Shadab Khan’s men will lock horns with Sultans on Tuesday.
