The future of the PSL 6 hangs by a thread

The future of the Pakistan Super League (HBL PSL 6) now hangs by a thread as no positive outcomes have been dug out on analyzing the virtual press conference between the PSL franchises and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) today. The two parties met a few hours ago to discuss the details of the event.

Recently, the reliable reports revealed PCB owning a green signal from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to organize the remaining matches of the league there but the official statements from the board’s CEO, Wasim Khan, point out some intricacies despite having a ‘yes to hold matches’ from the hosts.

It is to be noted that although UAE is eager to host the PSL 6 but a few pending clarifications that the cricket-loving nation’s board awaits from the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) might force the PCB to postpone the remaining matches of the event. Wasim has given Thursday as the deadline to wait for the responses or else PSL 6 will not be possible in the meantime.

“In today’s online discussion, we updated the team owners that the PCB had been advised that the PSL had received approvals from the relevant authorities in the UAE. However, some clarifications on certain exemption requests are still awaited, which are expected at some stage on Thursday.

“The team owners agreed that if we do not receive clarity by Thursday afternoon, then they’ll have no other option but to request postponement of the remaining 20 matches.

However, the board will be in touch with ECB to get clarifications and an obstacle-less window to smoothly run the remaining matches of the PSL. The revised schedule of the event resumes the matches by 1st June whereas, the sixth season will be coiled up entirely by 20th June.

“In the meantime, we will continue to liaise with the UAE government and the Emirates Cricket Board as they are equally keen for the event to be held in the UAE.”
