PSL 7 final: Lahore Qalandars finally win it big

Finally, the Lahore Qalandars have lifted their first-ever trophy in the seven years of Pakistan Super League winning the PSL 7 final versus Multan Sultans. After seeing nothing working for them in past six years despite trying several coaches, captains, and team combinations, the Qalandars management finally picked one of the young pacers, Shaheen Shah Afridi to command the team. The lucky charm has made 1 Crore Lahoris smile to the fullest on 27th February.

Qalandars, however, reached the PSL 5 final, but their efforts went in vain after Imad Wasim’s Karachi Kings showed extreme supremacy versus the arch-rivals. Under Shaheen, the grey-green men have been giving tough times to the table-toppers Sultans during the entire PSL 7.

As far as Sultans performances are considered, Mohammad Rizwan and co remained unbeaten throughout the tournament despite their sixth match lose versus the Qalandars. Although they waited to revenge, but Afridi’s bowlers have made sure to defend the margin of 181. Featuring in 10 games in the league stage, the encounter versus the Qalandars was the only bad luck for Rizwan and co.

Qalandars’ decision of winning the toss and choosing to bat has benefitted them extremely. They set up a decent score of 180 on losing five scalps. With the assistance of Mohammad Hafeez’s 69 and David Wiese’s 28 off 8 deliveries, Shaheen and co were on the climax. Later, their bowlers troubled green-blue batters with deadly bowls. Rizwan could not survive, Khushdil Shah was the only batter to surpass 30. Sadly, Sultans could not defend their title, and the Qalandars clutched their first-ever HBL PSL trophy. Cheers!
