PSL 7: Shadab’s Dazzling Knock goes in vain as Franchise suffers Defeat

shadab khan knock in psl

Yesterday’s match between Multan Sultans and Islamabad United was a sight for the sore eyes. It ticked all the boxes of entertainment, excitement and drama. The display of boundaries and maximums from both sides only added to the beauty of the match.

The PSL match began with Multan Sultans coming to bat first. Their usual power-hitters Shan, Rizwan, and Sohaib lost their wickets early and Islamabad United looked under control. But once Tim David and Rilee Rossouw took the stage, it was chaos for the bowling side and in the remaining overs, it poured sixes and fours and nothing else.

When Shadab’s side came to bat, they were looking at a target of 218 to chase. Openers Paul Stirling and Alex Hales began the show for Islamabad United ready to replicate their earlier performance against Peshawar Zalmi. But Rizwan’s bowlers had other plans, after performing short stints for their team the openers were sent back to the pavilion by David Willey.

Then Shadab Khan stepped on the crease and ravaged the bowlers through his wide-spread destructive batting. He was there to win it for Islamabad United and put his 100% playing a brilliant knock of 91 (42 balls) runs. But his innings weren’t enough as batters on the other end kept losing their wickets with not much contribution from them.

Islamabad United could have won this match had it not been for the bowlers leaking runs. Hassan Ali, Merchant de Lange, and Faheem Ashraf proved to be extremely expensive and this is what caused the match for them. But despite the loss, Twitter was all praise for the wonderful display of batting from Shadab Khan.

Twitter Impressed with Shadab’s batting

Fans were disappointed that the team could not win despite heroics from Shadab

Followers also took a dig at Hassan Ali for his poor bowling display giving 52 runs in four overs.

Islamabad United will play their third match against Quetta Gladiators on 3rd February.
