PSL Top moments: Lahore Qalandars vs Quetta Gladiators

PSL, Top Moments

The fourth match of HBL PSL 2021 was between Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators.

Lahore Qalandars were coming off a win over Peshawar Zalmi. They bowled well but they had batting troubles, especially with the middle-order that could not cope with reverse swing. Now they will be facing against Quetta Gladiators, who have good pace bowlers who can bowl reverse swing and will try to cope with them.

Quetta Gladiators were looking for a win to gain some confidence. They had a poor last season of PSL and they began with a big loss over the Karachi Kings. They also have middle-order concern and they will be looking to rectify in this game.

However, in today’s game, Lahore Qalandars has completely dominated as they won the match by nine wickets and ten balls remaining. The dominators were Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Hafeez. We take a look at the top moments of game four of PSL.

PSL top moments

1. Mohammad Hafeez’s carnage over Shinwari

Mohammad Hafeez completely dominated the match with his brilliant 73 not out from 33 balls, striking over 220 with four boundaries and six maximums. Against Usman Shinwari, Hafeez gave a special treat to him. Not once, but twice Hafeez scored 15 and over in Shinwari’s over. He first scored 16 before scoring 17 in combined balls of ten balls bowled by him. It was a horrid night for a left-arm fast bowler.

2. Zahid Mahmood’s beauty to Sohail Akhtar

If there was only one spark that lighten up Quetta Gladiators, it was Zahid’s beauty googly to Akhtar. Sohail Akhar wasn’t really going anywhere with his batting approach and Zahid took the opportunity to fool the captain of Lahore Qalandars. It was a beauty indeed. But sadly, that was the only spark in the Gladiator’s bowling innings.

3. Dropping sitters

Perhaps the poorest fielding came in this game, where five catches were dropped. Two in Lahore Qalandars’ innings and three in Quetta Gladiator’s innings. Out of the five, three were very easy. Twice Chris Gayle was dropped; in the seventh over when he was on 21 and in the 11th over when he was on 31. Both times the fielder was Agha Salman.

However, the costliest dropped was of Mohammad Hafeez, who was on 20 off 14 balls and Qalandars needed 78 runs from 42. He was given a chance by Saim Ayub and had he taken the catch, the story would have been different tonight of this match of PSL.
