PSL Top moments: Lahore Qalandars vs Peshawar Zalmi

The runners-up of the last season Lahore Qalandars will take on 2017 PSL winner Peshawar Zalmi for the opener of HBL PSL 2021.

Lahore Qalandars were the finalists of the last seasons, and it was their first time qualifying for the Playoffs. Unfortunately, they lost to Karachi Kings in the final. They were defeated by five wickets, losing the title after coming so close for the first time.

Peshawar Zalmi is the winner of the 2017 season and have qualified for the finals of two more occasion after winning their maiden title. They were, however, defeated by Islamabad United in 2018 and Quetta Gladiators in 2019.

Lahore Qalandars won a thriller against Peshawar Zalmi, winning by four wickets. Now, we will take a look at the top moments of game two of this PSL season.

PSL top moments

1. Shaheen Afridi’s bursting opening spell

Shaheen Afridi bowled a brilliant opening spell, where he conceded seven runs in his two overs. On the very first ball, he dismissed Imam ul-Haq, nicking him behind the stumps. Shaheen ended with a spell of 3-14 in his four overs and once again, a fast bowler was rewarded the “Man of the Match” award.

2. Wahab Riaz’s ripping wickets

Though the captain of Peshawar Zalmi was smashed 30 runs, he picked up two wickets. Both wickets were pleasing to watch. First of, he dismissed Fakhar Zaman, who managed a top edge and was beautifully caught by Shoaib Malik. Then, the next one was even better. He clean bowled Ben Dunk with a ripping inswinging yorker. That was also reversing into the left-hand batsman.


3. Rashid Khan’s match-winning shot

Rashid Khan was very economical with his figures of 0-14 in four overs, despite not taking a wicket. But his major moment came when he came out to bat. When Qalandars were 109-6, Rashid Khan came out to bat with Mohammad Hafeez. Rashid Khan scored 27 not out in 17 balls, including a slog sweep helicopter six to win the match.
