Qualification scenario for Pakistan after Pak vs NZ

However, Pakistan’s journey to the World Cup semi-finals remains filled with uncertainty, as their fate is not entirely in their own hands. Their qualification depends on the outcomes of upcoming matches involving New Zealand and Afghanistan.

Pakistan face a daunting task ahead. They must secure a victory against England on November 11 in Kolkata while hoping that Sri Lanka can upset New Zealand in their clash in Bengaluru on November 9. Simultaneously, Pakistan need Afghanistan to falter in at least one of their remaining two matches against Australia and South Africa, or even better, lose both, as they currently share the same points, 8, despite having played one match less.

To achieve this challenging goal, a series of specific match results are required. If everything aligns perfectly, Pakistan’s path to the semi-final will be more certain. These results include Australia winning against England, India prevailing over South Africa, Sri Lanka triumphing over Bangladesh, and Australia also defeating Afghanistan.

Further, England need to overcome the Netherlands, Sri Lanka must win against New Zealand, South Africa should outshine Afghanistan, and Australia should beat Bangladesh. Finally, Pakistan should triumph over England, and India needs to secure a victory against the Netherlands.

If, by some miracle, all of these outcomes fall into place, the final points table would show India leading with 18 points, followed by South Africa with 14. Australia and Pakistan would tie for third place, ensuring Pakistan’s qualification for the knockout stage of the World Cup, thus setting the stage for an exciting semi-final showdown.
