Qudrat ka Nizam to be sacked by new PCB chairman

Saqlain Mushtaq, who has been gaining exposure more as Qudrat Ka Nizam in Pakistan Cricket, is likely to be sacked by newly-appointed chairman Najam Sethi. Alongside the head coach Mushtaq, batting coach Mohammad Yousuf is also expected to lose his place.

Notably, the PCB’s Management Committee, organized as per the PCB’s 2014 constitution, was part of Najam’s first meeting as the chairperson on Friday at NPHC. During the meeting, various aspects were discussed, including bringing foreign coaches into action in place of the locals.

In February, it was decided that Mushtaq will continue as interim head coach for another 12 months. In contrast, Mohammad Yousuf, who was appointed as the coach for the home series against Australia, was later made the team’s permanent coach in July 2022.

Moreover, there is barely any danger to Shaun Tait’s slot as a bowling coach. However, with the newly formed committee sacking Ramiz Raja’s elected members, it cannot be assured that Najam and co will retain Shaun’s contract.

A day back, the PMLN government, acting as PCB’s patron-in-chief, dismissed Raja’s chair duties and appointed Najam instead to revive the 2014 PCB’s constitution. The management committee members, led by Sethi, are:

Shakil Shaikh (ex-PCB BoG), Gul Zada (ex-PCB BoG), Nauman Butt (ex-PCB BoG), Haroon Rashid (former cricketer), Sana Mir (former cricketer), Aized Sayed (ex-PCB Director National High-Performance Center), Tanvir Ahmed (ex-president Larkana region), Gul Mohammad Kakar (ex-president Quetta association), Ayaz Butt (ex-PCB BoG), Shahid Afridi (former cricketer), Shafqat Rana (former cricketer), Mustafa Ramday (advocate supreme court of Pakistan), and Arif Saeed (ex-PCB BoG).

From the above-mentioned members, Sana Mir has parted ways with PCB as a member of the committee and is willing to pursue a commentary career alongside acting as an independent director of the Federation of International Cricketers’ Associations (FICA).
