Ramiz Raja responds to Ahmed Shehzad's criticism on PCB

The chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mr Ramiz Raja has suggested that Pakistani cricketer Ahmed Shehzad work on his batting if he wishes to return to the international team. Recently, the batter has accused former PCB management of demolishing his career on purpose.

Ramiz, talking at the PCB conference, said that frustration is normal for the players who have been out of the team. The chairman has disclosed that when a player is out of the team, his patience and temperament are tested. Furthermore, he has advised Shehzad to keep scoring runs and that he will never be out of the team.

“See, I too have made comebacks. This is pure frustration that gets to a player. They start blaming everyone. I think he needs to introspect. When you are out of the team, your patience is tested, your temperament is tested, your hard work is tested. So my message to him is, ‘let the bat do the talking’. Keep scoring, there is no way you will be dropped from the team,”

The board’s chairman used the example of Shan Masood, who was dropped from the side, but after proving himself, he has been renamed by the board for the upcoming fixtures.

“Look at Shan Masood. He has forced himself back in the team through sheer number of runs,”

Notably, Shehzad named Waqar Younis for ending his career saying the ex-coach submitted a report against him and Umar Akmal saying the duo should return to domestic cricket to earn their places back. According to the cricketer, the incident took place in 2016 and he himself has not seen the report.

As reported by Cricket Pakistan, Ahmed had said,

“I have not seen the report myself, but a PCB official told me that these remarks have been said regarding me. But I believe that these things should be discussed face-to-face, and I am ready to take on that challenge. Then we will see who is right and who is wrong. Their words hurt my career, especially since I was not allowed to present my case. This was a pre-planned approach, and they wanted to kill two birds with one stone,”
