Afg vs Zim: Rashid Khan, the well-known leg-spinner representing Afghanistan becomes the only cricketer to bowl the most number of overs in a single test match in the 21st century.

His record came up during Afg vs Zim’s second test match’s second inning of Zimbabwe organized at Abu Dhabi. As of now, he tops the list for having delivered the most number of overs in a Test inning at a neutral venue.

Pakistan‘s Yasir Shah has two such records where the former cricketer, Abdur Rehman ranks fourth on the list. Here is the list:

The early record is held by Muttiah Muralitharan of Sri Lanka who delivered 113.5 overs against England at the Lord’s Cricket Stadium. Later, Shane Warner bowled 98 overs against South Africa in 2002.

As Zimbabwe commenced their second inning, Rashid bowled 17 maiden overs and picked 7 wickets to complete his 11 wickets and 20 maiden overs in the respective match.

Rashid becomes the only cricketer to bowl the most number of overs in a single test match in the 21st century:

He was looking to stable himself in first Zimbabwe’s innings as he had only four wickets with three maiden overs yielding 138 runs. He conceded 137 runs later delivering his next remaining to complete 99.2 overs.

Rashid also broke the well-going partnership as he targetted Donald Tiripano on 95 stopping him to complete a Test run. Notably, Rashid Khan was coming from a finger injury sustained earlier and shocked everyone with the absolute stats.
