Sarfaraz Ahmed Under Fire for Verbal Outburst in Quetta Gladiators Match

PSL 8 exhibition match: Sarfaraz Ahmed's Gladiators give tough times to Babar Azam and co

During a recent exhibition match between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi, tensions rose on the field following an outburst from Quetta’s captain and wicketkeeper, Sarfaraz Ahmed. In the fourth over of the match, when teammate Aimal Khan was hit for a boundary by Mohammad Haris, Sarfaraz was heard using abusive language towards his own player.

This behavior is not new for Sarfaraz, who has been previously criticized by former cricketers and fans alike for his emotional outbursts towards his own team during games. In 2021, Lahore Qalandars head coach, Aaqib Javed, even took his concerns to umpire Aleem Dar. He stated, “I don’t know how they endure these abuses and insults. No code of conduct applies to him for abusing players in the open?”

Last year, Sarfaraz was fined for using inappropriate language during the National T20 Cup after being dismissed by Kassif Bhatti at the point region. He was charged by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) under Article 2.3, which pertains to “Use of audible obscenity”.

Despite these incidents, Sarfaraz will be leading the Quetta Gladiators for the eighth consecutive season in the upcoming HBL Pakistan Super League, which is set to begin on February 13.
