Proteas Faf Du Plessis audited an interview with Cricket Pakistan where he analyzed the captaincies of three well-known players; MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Sarfaraz Ahmed. He believes that the captaincy styles of Kohli and Sarfaraz are similar as they are active on the field prattling with the players with back-to-back guidance. On the other hand, Du Plessis has determined Dhoni as a reserved captain who usually stays quiet not interacting with colleagues much.
Sarfaraz Ahmed or Virat Kohli, who is the better captain? Tells Du Plessis
They [Sarfaraz Ahmed and MS Dhoni] are quite different. MS is quiet and reserved. He does most of his things instinctively on the field. Sarfaraz is the opposite and almost like Virat [Kohli] in the sense where he is always talking to the players, talking to the bowlers.
He defines Sarfaraz as the captain who is very conserved towards the game and not only leads the team but shows with his action. Notably, Du Plessis has been called by the Quetta Gladiators (QG) to play the remainder of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 6) beginning by 9th June in Abu Dhabi.
Gladiators have lost four out of five games and are expecting to adjust the mediocre form with the likes of Plessis, Azam Khan, and a few more additions via the player replacement draft. The South African batter is eager to begin his PSL 6 journey under Sarfaraz Ahmed as he loves to play in the captaincies of distinct players. Notably, he can define Dhoni’s mentorship as he has been a regular part of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Always very passionate about how he captains his team and he shows it. There is no right and wrong way, they just have two different styles. He has obviously been a captain for Pakistan who has got the best out of his players. It is good because I always like playing under different leaders to see how they go about their business.
The Proteas batsman also discussed his views on Azam Khan, who has been recalled to the Gladiators’ squad for the remaining extravaganza. Just like everyone, Du Plessis remembers Azam’s mindblowing fifty versus Islamabad United in PSL 5.
Azam Khan is a good hitter. I haven’t seen much of him since I have just played a couple of games. I think he got that one fifty there towards the end of the competition. He has definitely got a lot of power and he takes the ball on. It will be interesting to keep an eye on him to see what he does in this last leg of the tournament. He will be very driven to do well in this last leg.
