The incident took place on a Thursday during the ongoing renovation work in the dressing room, causing widespread shock and worry among cricket enthusiasts around the world.
Prompt action was taken by the ground staff, who immediately alerted the authorities. After hours of dedicated efforts, the blaze was successfully brought under control.
Eden Gardens has been designated to host a total of five matches, including a semi-final showdown and the Pakistan-England match on November 11.
As per the recently updated schedule for the prestigious tournament, the Pakistan cricket team is set to compete against Bangladesh on October 31 and against England on November 11 at the Eden Gardens.
Importantly, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has revised the schedule, rescheduling the Pakistan-India match to October 14.
