Pak vs NZ: Shadab Khan ruled out of the first test

Pakistan all-rounder, Shadab Khan has been ruled out from the first test match against New Zealand that is to be played on 26th December. His groin injury had already been an issue for many days but he donned the green jersey in a three-match T20I series as Babar Azam was already out amidst his thumb injury.

As of now, his thigh injury has joined the series of injuries he is suffering from the last few months.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed his unavailability in a press conference held today. The all-rounder will be going under an MRI scan on Thursday at Tauranga and the reports will reveal if he would be able to take part in the second test match or not.

Revealing the replacement, one of the officials announced Zafar Gohar for the first test match and he already has been included in the test squad. The results of the scan will determine if Zafar will get a chance in the second chance in place of Shadab.

“Shadab will now undergo MRI scans in Tauranga on Thursday, following which a further update on the exact nature of the injury and time needed to return to competitive cricket will be provided,” the statement said.

The test squad has reached Mount Maunganui on Wednesday. Written below are the members:

Squad:
Kane Williamson (c), Tom Blundell, Trent Boult, Kyle Jamieson, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Henry Nicholls, Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, Neil Wagner, BJ Watling (wk), Will Young
