Shaheen Afridi played PSL qualifier with fever, reveals Shahid Afridi

Shahid Afridi, the former Pakistan all-rounder, has revealed that Lahore Qalandars’ captain, Shaheen Afridi, played with a fever during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season eight Qualifier against Multan Sultans on Wednesday. Afridi shared the news during a local news channel interview on Thursday.

According to Afridi, Shaheen has been suffering from fever for the last few days but still chose to play the match. “If you have a fever, I don’t think you should play, but he [Shaheen] wanted to win the match and then rest until the final,” Afridi said.

Shaheen Shah Afridi has taken 14 wickets in 10 matches of PSL 8 at an economy rate of 8.61. However, Lahore Qalandars lost the Qualifier match to Multan Sultans by 84 runs.

With the victory, Multan Sultans have qualified for the final of PSL 8 for the third consecutive year. Meanwhile, Lahore Qalandars will play the second eliminator against the winning team of the first eliminator.

The first eliminator will be played between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday, with the losing team being knocked out of the event. The winner will face Lahore on Friday in the second eliminator.

The closing ceremony and final of PSL 8 will take place on March 19 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The winner will not only lift the Supernova Trophy but will also receive a cheque of Rs120m, while the runners-up will receive a cheque of Rs48m.

Lahore Qalandars will attempt to win back-to-back titles, while Islamabad United will aim to become the most successful side by lifting the trophy for the third time. All remaining matches of PSL 8 will be played at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
