Shakib Al Hasan, who in recent times have developed controversies with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), is now all set to be part of the Bangladesh team that will tour for the South Africa series. The BCB rested the all-rounder from the international series, despite unwillingness, since he cited personal and mental reasons.
The player has revealed he has talked to BCB president Nazmul Hasan, about his 2022 cricket plans and will be available for the South Africa series in all three formats. He further stated that it is now up to BCB when to rest him from the international series.
“I spoke to [BCB president Nazmul Hassan] Papon Bhai for the last two days when we planned the entire year. I am available for all three formats. The board will decide when to give me rest, which includes the South Africa series. I am available for the SA series,” said Shakib Al Hasan as quoted as saying by ESPN Cricinfo.
Nazmul is happy with the decision but stated people should be ready since Shakib can skip any game. His statement came following the fact that Bangladesh’s cricketer sidelined himself on a sudden note from the series. In the scenario, the president also questioned if he would have parted ways with the IPL franchise if picked.
Hasan did not entertain Shakib’s personal and mental reasons much saying, if there were any, the player could not have registered for the mega auction 2022. However, at the same time, he understands that the most important thing is the cricketer’s availability at the moment despite controversies.
“Shakib is available for all the formats for the South Africa tour. He will travel to South Africa tomorrow. If he skips a match in this series, please accept it. He wants to play. That is the most important thing,”
