The recent clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season created a stir due to on-field incidents involving Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly. RCB emerged victorious by 23 runs, but after the match, Kohli greeted Capitals coach Ricky Ponting while ignoring Capitals Director of Cricket Ganguly, who, in turn, ignored the RCB batter.

The tension between these two Indian cricket stalwarts goes back to when Kohli was the captain of Team India and Ganguly was the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). During Ganguly’s presidency, Kohli resigned from T20Is as skipper and reportedly had to give up ODI captaincy.

When asked how he would handle a similar situation to the no-handshake saga between Kohli and Ganguly during the IPL match, former India head coach Ravi Shastri didn’t hold back. Shastri emphasized that his actions would be determined by his relationship with the other person and that even if he chose not to talk at the moment, there is always room to grow and improve.

“It depends on what my relationship is. If I don’t want to talk, I’ll just walk past. But ultimately, when you sit down, you realize that there is always room to grow, no matter how old you are,” Shastri said.

In addition, Kohli unfollowed Ganguly on Instagram shortly after the game against DC, and Ganguly reciprocated by unfollowing Kohli. Many former cricketers, including DC assistant coach Shane Watson, have shared their thoughts on the incident.
