T10 League: Super League round explained and schedule

T10

The main group stage of the Abu Dhabi T10 League has came to an end tonight. All of the group matches were live-streamed on the official T10 YouTube channel.

All teams have played one match each in the single round robin group stage. There is no stage where a team fails to win a single match means they will eliminated. Instead, teams not winning means they will not carry their points forward in the next stage, “Super League” stage where all teams will play at specific matches.

Before we get into the “Super League” stage of this T10 League, let’s look at the points table.

Rank Group A P W L Points NRR
1 Northern Warriors 3 2 1 4 +1.933
2 Delhi Bulls 3 2 1 4 +1.189
3 Bangla Tigers 3 1 2 2 -0.629
4 Maratha Arabians 3 1 2 2 -3.257

Rank Group B P W L Points NRR
1 Qalandars 3 3 0 6 +3.208
2 Team Abu Dhabi 3 1 2 2 -0.418
3 Deccan Gladiators 3 1 2 2 -1.201
4 Pune Devils 3 1 2 2 -1.666

Group A

Northern Warriors, the 2018 champions of T10 League who failed to qualify for the playoffs in 2019, tops the chart in Group A. They lost their opening match to Maratha Arabians. Since then, they have won two back-to-back matches and they are the only team to defend their totals.

Delhi Bulls also have gained 4 points after they won their first two games before loosing their last game against the Warriors.

Bangla Tigers and defending champions Maratha Arabians have won only one match. Maratha Arabians won their opening game but lost their plot afterwards.

T10

Qalandars are in red hot form as they are the only team that have won all of their games so far.

Group B

Qalandars were ruthless in Group B as they top the group with a brilliant Net Run Rate. The rest of the teams have won only one each.

Team Abu Dhabi won their last group match as they defeated Pune Devils after loosing their first two games. Pune Devils won their first game but then lost their final two games. Deccan Gladiators, the runner-ups from last T10 season, won their second game but lost their first and last matches.

Explained: How will the “Super League” play out

The “Super League” will be played by all teams in a single group. A team will not play against the same teams that played in their previous group. An example is that defending champions Maratha Arabians will not play against Northern Warriors, Delhi Bulls and Bangla Tigers. They will play with the Group B teams.

Again, there is another thing. Since Maratha Arabians ended as 4th in group A, they will NOT play the match against the 4th ranked team in Group B, which is Pune Devils. Similarly, table toppers from both groups, Qalandars and Northern Warriors, will not play against each other.

T10

Maratha Arabians are the defending champions. But they have lost their last two games convincingly, which sets them at the bottom of the Super League.

From the group stage, points are carried to the next round. This will help the teams to have extra points before the round even begin in T10 League.

Let’s take Northern Warriors as an example. The Warriors have gained 4 points after winning two games. They will play three games against the opposition group with an exception of Group B table toppers. If they win all three games, they will gain 6 points. And by adding their 4 points from the previous group, they will end with 10 points. There is no penalty for loosing the match.
