The battle of the Wicket-keepers in PSL

The seventh match of the seventh season of Pakistan Super League PSL will witness the clash between two wicket-keepers, one mostly benched and the other, active in the national squad. Sarfaraz Ahmed and Muhammad Rizwan will be face-to-face tonight.

In today’s game skippers Sarfaraz and Rizwan both will be seen behind the wickets for Quetta and Multan respectively. More often than not, the two have been pitted against each other ever since Rizwan has been given the responsibility of wicket-keeping. Their skillset and achievements have been put on weight, giving way to lengthy discussions and conclusions.

While Sarfaraz Ahmed holds the privilege of not missing a single PSL match, Rizwan has been in and out of the playing eleven until recently. In the 2021 version of the Pakistan cricket league, he was given the role of commanding the Multan Sultans and he reciprocated that honour by winning the franchise its maiden PSL title.

Speaking to a source Sarfaraz has said that he only has respect for Muhammad Rizwan and he only takes him as healthy competition in order to improve himself. He had further said, “He is a great addition to Pakistan cricket and his stratospheric 2021 has made each and every Pakistani proud.”

Captain Rizwan also had good things to say when asked about competition against Quetta Gladiators. He mentioned how Quetta is a tough side to face and possesses the capability to defeat any team.

The two teams have gone head-to-head seven times. Men in purple have won four matches while the Rizwan-led team has won three. It’s always a close competition when they meet on the ground. Multan Sultans have already claimed victory in 2/2 matches while Quetta has lost one and won one match.
