Pakistan’s ICC World Cup 2023 squad is gradually shaping up, with Head Coach Grant Bradburn, Director Mickey Arthur, Captain Babar Azam, and Manager Analytics Hassan Cheema agreeing on 12 to 13 players to be included. The final decision rests with the yet-to-be-appointed chief selector.
Probable players in the squad include Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, Shaheen Afridi, and more. Two players from a pool, including Shan Masood and Sarfaraz Ahmed, will complete the squad.
The final two to three names will be decided soon, and players’ performances in the upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan and the Asia Cup will be crucial in making the selections.
The ICC World Cup 2023 will feature 10 teams across 10 venues, commencing on October 5 and culminating on November 19, with the Narendra Modi Stadium hosting the opening and final matches.
Pakistan’s schedule includes exciting encounters against Netherlands, Sri Lanka, India, Australia, and other formidable teams. The day matches will start at 10:00 am Pakistan Standard Time (PST), while the day-night fixtures will begin at 01:30 pm (PST). In case of qualifying, Pakistan will play the semi-finals in Kolkata.
The tournament will follow a round-robin format with 45 league matches, and the top four teams will advance to the semi-finals, held in Mumbai and Kolkata on November 15 and 16, respectively, with reserve days for the semi-finals and the final.
