This team will make first pick in PSL 8 draft

Lahore Qalandars, who was the last edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), are all set to make the first pick in the Player Draft of the HBL PSL 8, revealed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday.

According to the details, the second pick will be made by Quetta Gladiators, who won the PSL 2019, whereas the third pick belongs to Multan Sultans, who won the PSL in 2021.

The fourth pick goes to Karachi Kings and the most successful franchise of the PSL, Islamabad United, will have the fifth pick, whereas Peshawar Zalmi, the winner of the maiden edition of PSL, will have the last pick.

The next 17 rounds will be decided through a special statistic tool. Moreover, further details for the HBL PSL 8 draft will be shared in a shorter course.

The director of the 8th edition of the PSL, Usman Wahla, says that,

“We have set small milestones for our flagship event, and Pick Order for HBL PSL 2023 was one of the targets. This has set the tone for this year’s Player Draft, as the teams will now have absolute clarity on their turn and how they will make the best use of their chances to pick players for one of the most gruelling and fiercely-contested leagues.

“Player Registration window for foreign players is also open, and we are receiving encouraging responses, which is a testament to the reputation of the HBL PSL and how much the top players want to be part of it.

“Next year’s event will be staged at four venues – Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Multan – and we are working extremely hard to not only deliver this event according to its stature and reputation but also introduce a few initiatives to make the event more spectator-friendly.”
