The Abu Dhabi T10 League 2021 came to an end last week where Northern Warriors defeated the Delhi Bulls by eight wickets in the final to clinch their second title in the tournament’s history.
There were many performances that were remembered. So today, we will be taking a look at the top ten performances in the 2021 edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 League.
1. Waqas Maqsood bowled the most economical spell in T10
Waqas Maqsood, the left-arm medium-pacer from Pakistan, conceded only 1 run in his two-over spell and also picked up a wicket to achieve the memorable feat. He was playing for the Delhi Bulls who faced the Northern Warriors in the 9th match of the season. He ended with figures of 1-1 in his two overs.
2. Jordan’s 3-8 against Deccan Gladiators
Chris Jordan is known for bowling tight spells in the death over of T20 matches. In T10 League, he bowled a spell of 3-8 against Deccan Gladiators. His spell helped his side, Qalandars, to win the match by 33 runs in the group stage.
3. Fabien Allen’s match-winning spell
In the Eliminator 2, Fabien Allen was given the ball by his captain in the penultimate over. His side, Northern Warriors, needed to defend 13 runs from two overs. And to think a spinner bowling in the penultimate over is always a no-no for captains. However, Pooran entrusted the ball to his bowler and he delivered. He took two wickets in his spell of 4-13 that help his side to win.
4. Wayne Parnell’s hat-trick
South Africa’s left-arm faster bowler picked up a hat-trick in the T10 League against Delhi Bulls. His figures of 3-15 helped the Northern Warriors win the match by 33 runs. It is the only T10 League hat-trick this season.
5. Wahab’s vicious in-swinging yorker
Wahab Riaz had a fine T10 League, playing for the champions Northern Warriors. There was one over that his side were remembered, is that vicious inswinger he bowled to opener, Paul Sterling. Though it was a bad over in the end, Paul Stirling’s dismissal in the opening over with that levelling inswinging yorker was remembered by fans.
6. Evin Lewis’ five sixes in an over
Evin Lewis was on fire this season. There was a game in the earlier days of the tournament where he hit 55 from 16 balls, including five sixes in an over against defending champions Maratha Arabians. Take a look at his blistering knock!
7. Sohail Akhtar’s captain knock
Taking about captain’s knocks, Sohail Akhtar played an innings by himself for his Qalandars’ side. He smashed 71 from 31 balls after openers had failed early on and he guide his side to 118 in ten overs. His knocked helped Qalandars to win the game against Deccan Gladiators by 33 runs.
8. Chris Gayle’s 12-ball 50
Chris Gayle had failed in the early matches of the tournament. However, in his side’s all-important match against Maratha Arabians, he played one amazing knock. Needing to chase 98, Chris Gayle smashed 84 not out from 22 balls, including 12 ball 50, as he led Team Abu Dhabi to a win by five overs remaining!
9. Nicholas Pooran’s own party of sixes
The highest team score this season was set by Northern Warriors, who set 162 against Bangla Tigers, Nicholas Pooran had done the majority of the job. He scored 89 runs from 26 balls against the helpless Bangla Tigers side. Northern Warriors won the game by 32 runs and Pooran’s firing innings is one to remember.
10. Ali Khan’s unbelievable bowling
Five balls, zero runs, three wickets! That was the figures of Ali Khan’s bowling before he left due to injury. He achieved this feat against Pune Devils, where they managed 57 in their 10 overs, the lowest team total this T10 League season!
