Umar Gul officially appointed Afghanistan's bowling coach

Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has officially appointed former Pakistani pacer Umar Gul as team’s bowling coach. The board has signed the coaching contract with the cricketer for an year.

International Cricketers Association (ICA), the cricketers’ management company, is delighted to announce its client (Gul) getting his first coaching deal while working with the agency.

Previously, Gul was appointed as the interim coach for three weeks alongside Younis Khan, who was chosen as the batting coach of Afghanistan Cricket Team.

ACB stated that it will evaluate the performance of the coaches and will look to elongate contracts if it is up to the mark. Notably, before agreeing to work with ACB, Umar had opportunities with several franchises in Kashmir Premier League, Pakistan Super League, and Lanka Premier League alongside domestic cricket.

The board also congratulated the former cricket star on his appointment as the bowling coach. Gul’s first assignment with Afghanistan Cricket Team as the official bowling coach will be upcoming Zimbabwe series. The Twitter statement of ACB reads,

Former Pakistan right-arm fast bowler Umar Gul has been named as the new bowling coach of our national man’s cricket team. He will step up into the role ahead of the upcoming limited-overs away series against Zimbabwe.

Umar was thrilled on the news and penned out that, “Looking forward to working with this energetic and hardworking group of boys once again, this time for longer insha’Allah.”
