In a remarkable feat of cricketing prowess, the seasoned Indian batsman, Virat Kohli, has etched his name in history as the fastest cricketer to reach the milestone of 13000 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs), surpassing his cricketing idol, Sachin Tendulkar.

This momentous achievement came during the Asia Cup Super 4 match against Pakistan at the iconic R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. At just 34 years of age, Kohli achieved this remarkable feat in his 267th ODI innings. A testament to his consistency and unparalleled batting prowess.

The match had seen India positioned at 147/2 in 24.1 overs after being put into bat by Pakistan. Unfortunately, rain intervened, halting proceedings on that fateful Sunday. When play resumed, Virat Kohli, at 8 runs, resumed his innings alongside KL Rahul, who remained unbeaten at 17 runs off 28 balls.

In the grand scheme of ODI cricket, Virat Kohli now ranks fifth in the list of leading run-scorers, with only Tendulkar (18,426 runs), Sangakkara (14,234 runs), Ponting (13,704 runs), and Jayasuriya (13,430 runs) ahead of him.
