Qalandars are on their way to win their first-ever opening encounter. The Sohail Akhtar-led team has never tasted the joyfulness of winning the team’s first match in PSL history.
Qalandars, whenever played their inaugural match of the PSL, lost. In all the five seasons starting from 2016, the side is struggling to clinch their maiden win in their opening match.
It goes like this:
LQ vs KK: 7th February 2016
KK won by 7 wickets
LQ vs QG: 10th February 2017
QG won by 8 runs
LQ vs MS: 23rd February 2018
MS won by 43 runs
LQ vs IU: 14th February 2019
IU won by 5 wickets
LQ vs MS: 21st February 2020

As the PSL 2021 continues, LQ are playing their opening match encounter against Zalmi and finally, it is more looking like a win for Sohail’s men.
Zalmi’s batters departed earlier but dragged the score to 140 giving Qalandars an average target of 141 to chase on National Stadium’s pitch.
The second innings were going good for the men in grey-green but they have started falling short of wickets.
Notably, Qalandars have always been mediocre despite having their full-strength squad. Being on the end spots in every season’s points table, they tried their best as they got PSL 2020 as the best of their PSL season.
Reaching final to face Karachi Kings cost them as the side lost – they are continuing to hunt their maiden title.
It is going to be a nailbiting ending as balls remain lesser than the runs required. Follow Cricfolks for the latest PSL updates, PSL live score.
