What happened in Pakistan Cricket Today?

Amidst the cricket-packed schedule of the men in green in the second half of the calendar year, a lot has been going on in domestic and international cricket. On 22nd August, we came across plenty of worth-to-discuss news. The most spiciest of all probably is Shaheen Shah Afridi’s replacement for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on Monday, revealed Mohammad Hasnain as Shaheen’s replacement in the Pakistan squad. The young fast bowler is all set to fulfil the gap of left-arm Shaheen, whose exclusion is a massive blow to Babar Azam and co.

Shaheen suffered a knee injury during last month’s Test match versus Sri Lanka and is not in a position to play any form of cricket. He is advised to rest for four to six weeks, and his participation in T20 World Cup 2022 also trembles.

Apart from it, the PCB confirmed the details for the England tour of Pakistan in 2022 for a three-match Test series. It must be remembered that England will first visit Pakistan for a seven-match t20I series pre-World Cup. Upon completing the World Cup journeys, the two teams will get back to Pakistan to compete in three Tests.

The Tests are scheduled to be played in December at Rawalpindi, Multan, and Karachi stadiums, respectively. The first match will take place from December 1-5, the second from 9-13, whereas the last Test will be played from 17-21 of the month.

Moreover, the PCB has announced a pre-season camp for the 2022-23 domestic men’s season as it will commence on Tuesday at the respective cricket centres of the six Cricket Associations. The six squads have been finalised by the men’s team’s selector Mohammad Wasim, alongside the consultations from the teams, which are as follows,
