Hardik Pandya’s injuries are now a chapter with back-to-back happenings, haunting the player’s fate at regular intervals. The player first sustained it during the Asia Cup 2018 in the team match against Pakistan. The series did not break later. Although he rested and got up, seeing his active participation in the Indian Premier League (2019) and World Cup 2019, however, he was once again injured. The player suffered twice before undergoing back surgery in the same year in the United Kingdom.
Following a subsequent set of injuries, Pandya has been the ‘pure’ batter, being unable to meet with his bowling skills. In IPL, he has not bowled for Mumbai Indians since 2020. The haunt continues as the player, now roped in as Gujarat Titans skipper, missed his side’s recent encounter versus the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on 17th April.
The stand-in skipper, Rashid Khan revealed Pandya developed some groin issues and the management is looking into it. He has missed several fixtures in the last two years due to his problematic injuries. The teams that Pandya plays for are not ready for any sort of risk. It must be the reason why MI released him ahead of the 2022 mega auction.
Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya are the lean-muscled guys – Shoaib Akhtar
Following the topic, ‘Hardik Pandya injuries’, Shoaib Akhtar, the former Pakistani cricketer has uttered his opinion on the matter. He has recalled the warning he gave to Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah, whom he has called the guys with lean muscles in his recent chitchat with SportsKeeda.
“I had told Jasprit Bumrah in Dubai and even Hardik Pandya. They were lean like birds. They didn’t have back muscles. Even now, I have such good strong back muscles behind my shoulders,”
“I touched his (Hardik) back, muscles were there but very lean. So, I warned him that he would get injured. But he said that he has been playing a lot of cricket. He got injured in the same match”
Hardik’s fitness is not only a concern for Gujarat in the ongoing IPL, however, but it is also a matter of unease for the national team, losing its valuable all-rounder asset. It will be interesting to see when the player bounces back fully fit.
