The Asia Cup 2022 is likely to be moved to Bangladesh amidst Sri Lanka’s financial and political crises going on. The island nation has previously been asked to review its decision to host the event since the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) allotted a deadline to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to decide in regards.
Asia Cup 2022 not to be played in UAE
Since the circumstances do not look settling, the ACC has decided to shift Asia Cup 2022 to Bangladesh. Consequently, Sri Lanka, the host of the tournament, is left with minor chances to embrace it. The source also clarified that UAE is not an option to play matches from August to September.
Before announcing the final decision, the ACC will once again examine the current situation in Sri Lanka, querying the board and government, if they can welcome the participants for the extravaganza. One of the council’s officials while talking to reliable sources narrated that,
“Bangladesh is just an option at the moment and the ACC is observing Sri Lanka’s situation before coming to a final decision. UAE is definitely not an option to host matches in late August and early September,”

The last edition of the Asia Cup was held in Dubai in 2018. This year’s season is set to kick-start on 27th August 2022 whereas, the finalists will battle on 11th September. The ACC is now in hurry to finalize the venue since Sri Lanka is on the verge of losing hosting due to the predicament. It must be noted that India will defend their title in the upcoming season.
