Which player hung Yuzvendra Chahal out from balcony?

A lot goes behind the curtains of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and many stories go untold, however, the former Mumbai Indians (MI) cricketer, Yuzvendra Chahal has taken some courage to reveal an incident that took place during IPL 2013.

The leg-spinner has accused a ‘very’ drunk player of hanging him down the balcony. Recalling the worst memory of his life, that could have been life-taking, Chahal revealed that a drunk player hung him out of the balcony, 15 floors above the ground.

In a recent chat on Rajasthan Royals’ social media, he disclosed the past incident to his teammate, Ravichandran Ashwin, but did not publicise the name of the player who did an inappropriate act with him back then.

His statements read,

“I never told this story, from today everyone will know. I never shared this. This dates back to 2013 when I was with Mumbai Indians we had a match in Bangalore. There was a get-together after that. So there was a player who was very drunk, I won’t say his name. He was very drunk, he was looking at me for a long time and he just called me and he took me outside and he hung me on the balcony,”

Chahal moreover named James Franklin and Symonds while recounting a happening when they tied his hands and legs, taped his mouth, and forgot their doing. The bowler revealed two of them were drunk and did not remember what happened, later on. However, the two, who were in “Masti” according to the cricketer, apologised to him.

“It was in 2011 after winning Champions League in a Chennai hotel. He [Andrew Symonds] had drunk a lot of “fruit juice” (laughs). I was with him, only. James Franklin and he tied my hands and legs, and said ‘now you have to open’. They were in so much masti they have taped my mouth and forgot all about me. Party got over and in the morning, when a cleaner came, he saw me and freed me. They asked from when have I been here like this and I told them, ‘from the night itself’,”

It is pertinent to mention that Chahal nowhere mentioned Andrew and Franklin as the players who hung him from the balcony.

It must be noted Chahal was auctioned by the Royals in the mega-auction ahead of IPL 2022. He joined the extravaganza back in 2011 for Mumbai Indians but was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2014. With RCB, the player has had long tenure but was not retained ahead of the ongoing edition.
