In an exciting development for cricket enthusiasts, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has expressed its keenness to organize a white-ball series against Pakistan in early 2024. According to insider sources, the series, to be held in New Zealand, is likely to comprise either five T20Is or three ODIs, providing a thrilling encounter for fans to look forward to.

NZC has made this offer following the conclusion of Pakistan’s tour of Australia in January 2024, which includes a three-match Test series ending on January 7. With a free window before their home series against South Africa in February, New Zealand has proposed the second week of January as a suitable time to kickstart the series against Pakistan.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is now set to discuss the proposal with its stakeholders, with a final decision on the tour anticipated within the next few days. Cricket enthusiasts across the globe eagerly await the outcome of these deliberations, as this series promises to bring together two competitive teams in a thrilling white-ball contest.

In another significant development, the PCB Management Committee’s chairman, Najam Sethi, has announced the members of the new selection panel for the national men’s side. The committee will comprise Chief Selector Haroon Rasheed, Team Director Mickey Arthur, Head Coach Grant Bradburn, and Data Analyst Hassan Cheema. Sethi emphasized the importance of incorporating data in the selection process and praised Cheema’s expertise in this field. Notably, Cheema currently serves as the strategy manager for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Islamabad United.

With an impressive background, Haroon Rasheed, a former cricketer, brings extensive experience to the selection panel. Having played 23 Tests and 12 ODIs from 1977 to 1983, Haroon also served as the chief selector in 2015-16. Mickey Arthur, renowned for his coaching prowess, has been an integral part of Pakistan’s coaching staff for several high-profile events, including the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 and the upcoming tour to Australia. Arthur played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s rise to the top position in Tests and T20Is, culminating in their triumph in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.

In recent news, the PCB confirmed the appointment of Grant Bradburn as the head coach of the national men’s side for a two-year period. Bradburn previously held the position of head coach on a consultancy basis during Pakistan’s home series against New Zealand. With his experience and expertise, Bradburn is expected to contribute significantly to the team’s performance and development in the coming years.
