Who will sing PSL 9 anthem?

  • Ali Zafar and Aima Baig selected as voices for PSL 9 anthem, sparking excitement among fans.
  • Ali Zafar, known for iconic PSL anthems, returns after fans’ persistent demand.
  • Controversy surrounds Ali Zafar’s past, but current authorities believe in affording opportunities based on innocence until proven guilty.

In a significant development for PSL 9, Ali Zafar and Aima Baig have been chosen as the voices for the tournament, which is scheduled to commence on February 17 and will be hosted across four cities: Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi. Zafar, a fan favorite, had previously lent his vocals to the anthems of the first three editions, with “Phir Seeti Bajegi” becoming immensely popular.

As the fans disliked subsequent anthems, the demand for him persisted, and the news of his return sparked excitement among cricket enthusiasts. While Aima Baig confirmed her involvement through an Instagram story, the Seeti Bajegi icon has yet to make an official statement.

In the past year, during Najam Sethi’s tenure, Ali Sethi was chosen to sing the PSL 8 anthem. However, the return of Zafar to the project has reignited enthusiasm, considering the undeniable connection fans have with his anthems.

It’s worth noting that Zafar faced allegations of harassment by female singer Meesha Shafi, and despite not being proven guilty, he has been sidelined from singing opportunities. The PCB recorded three anthems for PSL 9 in his voice, with one selected. However, objections were raised by a female official within a PSL franchise, arguing that reintegrating Ali Zafar could have a negative impact.

As the current authorities believe in affording opportunities based on innocence until proven guilty, the situation seems to be changing with the departure of the Chairman of the Management Committee. The anticipation is building as fans eagerly await the release of the PSL 9 anthem.
