The second season of Kashmir Premier League (KPL 2022) is just around the corner and the fans are happy to witness quality cricket action once again. However, the news coming their way in the recent developments has shattered their hearts, according to which, no foreign cricketer will participate in KPL 2022.
During the first edition, six international players were contracted including Monty Panesar and Herschelle Gibbs. Gibbs, on the one hand, revealed BCCI’s plan to demolish the Kashmir-based tournament, whereas, Panesar opted out fearing threats of not getting any further jobs in Indian cricket.
After Panesar pulled himself out, the league continued with five foreigners including Gibbs, former skipper of Sri Lanka, Tillakaratne Dilshan, and three former England cricketers, Owais Shah, Matt Prior and Phil Mustard.
No foreign players in KPL 2022
According to sources, most of the international cricketers will be busy fulfilling their national commitments and will not be available for KPL 2022. However, the league’s management has opened the registration process inviting both, local and foreign cricketers.
It must be noted that KPL 2 draft will take place after Eid ul Adha. The league is set to be staged in Muzaffarabad and will kick-start on August 1, ending on the 25th. Moreover, the six-team panel is now extended to seven, with the addition of Jammu Janbaaz. The league will commence after getting No-Objection Certificate from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
