Will Sarfaraz Ahmed play KPL 2?

Sarfaraz Ahmed is now rarely seen in the games despite being named for squads on and off. After his fall and the rise of Mohammad Rizwan, his participation has been in trouble. Despite the fact that he got over his fitness trauma by being well-versed in the domestic arena, he is yet to make it to the national fold on proper terms.

However, he is seen participating in different competitions, and if the reports revolving are true, Sarfaraz has gotten permission from the Pakistan Cricket Board to participate in the second edition of the Kashmir Premier League (KPL 2). He is a centrally contracted player and will play with special permission in KPL 2022.

Notably, the wicket-keeping batsman has been roped in by Kotli Lions in the Platinum Category as the KPL 2 player draft. Earlier, the PCB gave permission to seven of its contracted players, and Ahmed is now the eighth on the list. It must be noted he is included in Category D of the red-ball format.

The other centrally contracted players are Fawad Alam (Red Ball Category B), Azhar Ali (Red Ball Category A), Abid Ali (Red Ball Category D), Nauman Ali (Red Ball Category C), Haseebullah, Mohammad Huraira, Ali Usman (all three Emerging Category).

Reportedly, the PCB has also given permission to KPL to draft foreign cricketers who retired five years ago. However, there is no official statement regarding drafting the foreign cricketers in the upcoming edition. Notably, there were five overseas cricketers who participated in KPL 2021.

The second edition of the league is set to begin in Muzaffarabad on 11th August, with the final to be played on 25th August.
