Hussain Mirza, the younger brother of renowned presenter Zainab Abbas, is set to make his mark in the upcoming national training camp in Lahore. Reports indicate that Mirza will assume the role of strength and conditioning coach, providing valuable expertise to the players attending specialized camps for spinners, fast bowlers, and batters.
Having previously worked as the strength and conditioning specialist for the Multan Sultans in the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8, Mirza brings a wealth of experience to the table. His resume also includes stints with the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Crystal Palace Football Club, underscoring his diverse sporting background.
The national training camp, which serves as preparation for the Test tour against Sri Lanka, is scheduled to commence at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore on June 10. Notably, captain Babar Azam and wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan will be absent from the camp as they embark on a pilgrimage for Hajj in the second week of June. Meanwhile, Sarfaraz Ahmed will miss the camp due to personal commitments, and Mohammad Nawaz is recovering from a finger injury. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Shadab Khan, currently engaged in County Cricket, will join the camp upon completion of their contracts.
A total of 13 spinners, 11 fast bowlers, and 14 batters have been invited to undergo training from June 10 to 21. Among the notable names are spinners Zahid Mehmood and Noman Ali, fast bowlers Haris Rauf and Mohammad Hasnain, and batters Imam-ul-Haq and Saud Shakeel.
The training schedule is divided, with the spinners’ camp taking place from June 10 to 15, followed by the fast bowlers’ camp from June 16 to 21. This structured approach will allow players to focus on honing their skills and improving their performance in their respective disciplines.
As Hussain Mirza joins the national training camp as a strength and conditioning coach, the players can look forward to receiving expert guidance and support to enhance their physical fitness and overall performance. The camp presents a crucial opportunity for the invited players to fine-tune their skills ahead of the challenging Test series against Sri Lanka.
